Ogni tanto amazon pubblica racconti o raccolte di racconti a tema; vengono venduti a 1,99€, ma soprattutto sono quasi sempre disponibili gratuitamente per gli utenti prime e Kindle Unlimited.
Generalmente gli autori sono famosi e la qualità dei racconti è buona.
In questa ultima collezione, abbiamo 5 racconti di qualità medio alta ed un racconto che ho trovato veramente brutto.
3 Days, 9 Months, 27 Years
Il primo racconto è di John Scalzi, ben scritto, curioso, incentrato sulle storie di turisti temporali, narrate da un tecnico addetto alla macchina del tempo.
Durante la narrazione il tecnico inizierà a raccontare anche la sua storia che cambierà il senso del racconto.
Making Space
Il secondo ad opera di R. F. Kuang è decisamente più cupo.
Il tema è abbastanza classico, quello del viaggiatore nel tempo che torna indietro da un futuro in cui la terra sta pagando il prezzo del cambiamento climatico.
In questo caso il viaggiatore è un bambino, trovato da un donna che non è riuscita ad avere figli nonostante molti tentativi.
Le tematiche ambientaliste si intrecciano con quelle legate ai problemi della maternità conferendo una buona originalità ad un argomento classico.

Molto originale il racconto della Shepherd.
Qui l’agenzia che gestisce i viaggi nel tempo si occupa fare accordi relativi allo sviluppo di prodotti e ovviamente guadagnarci. Il personale è diviso in due divisioni, una si occupa dei viaggi nel passato (prossimo) ed una nei viaggi del futuro, il passaggio da una divisione all’altra è complicato.
Il protagonista è un dipendente che annoiato dal lavoro nella divisione che si occupa del passato si vede periodicamente respinto il passaggio alla divisione che si occupa del futuro, senza apparenti motivi.
Il racconto utilizza il viaggio nel tempo per affrontare tematiche umaniste legate alla vita contemporanea, utilizzando una serie di storie che confluiscono in un finale rivelatore.
A Visit to the Husband Archive
Ero molto curioso di leggere qualcosa di Kaliane Bradley, autrice che ha riscosso un incredibile successo con il suo romanzo d’esordio Il ministero del tempo.
Questo racconto è abbastanza peculiare, a volte sembra un po’ troppo bizzarro e difficile, ma nel complesso è stato una piacevole sorpresa, forse anche perché mi aspettavo qualcosa di molto più mainstream.
Adesso sono molto curioso di leggere il suo romanzo d’esordio e vedere se anche in quel caso unisce a tematiche fortemente fantascientifiche, con elementi classici della narrativa popolare.
All Manner of Thing Shall Be
Il racconto della Blake invece l’ho trovato decisamente brutto. Scritto male, i personaggi sembrano messi lì senza molto senso, la storia sembra attaccare elementi a caso dalla cultura pop 
Se proprio di vuole trovare una nota positiva, alla fine della lettura viene l’idea di provare a scrivere qualcosa, tanto se pubblicano questa roba 
Cronus
Cronus è un esempio classico di letteratura nera moderna.
La storia è ambientata in una specie di versione moderna dell’america segregazionista, i viaggi nel tempo sono serviti a modificare la realtà al fine di rimuovere dalla storia gli eventi che hanno portato alla fine di quella società.
Ma queste continue modifiche stanno iniziando ad avere effetti sempre più evidenti sulle persone che iniziano a ricordare qualcosa di diverso.
